It’s Monday Again

Our Wesleyan leaders from the rest of Canada gathered at the impressive new campus of Trenton (Brian Carswell) for their District Conference on Thursday evening. District Superintendent Peter Rigby was honoured in the conclusion of six years as leader of the Central Canada District upon his retirement at the rise of conference on Saturday. It was a privilege to be present on behalf of the Atlantic District to share a word of appreciation (in addition to the excellent citation offered by our National Superintendent) for the service he and Cyndi have effectively provided. Peter the Preeminent (as I would sometimes address him in our emails), we sincerely wish you and Cyndi all of God’s very best in the years of well-deserved retirement you will now enjoy!

National Superintendent Steve Elliott provided oversight for the overwhelmingly positive election of the new District Superintendent, Dr. Eric Hallett. Eric has served as Lead Pastor of Centennial Road in Brockville, Ontario since May 2009. He was born and raised in Woodstock, New Brunswick, where Dale MacDonald was his Youth Pastor in the 1980’s. He is a graduate of Kingswood University (BA) and Asbury Theological Seminary (M.Div, D.Min). He was ordained by The Wesleyan Church in July 1996. Eric and his wife Kimberly met at Asbury and were married in1993. They will continue reside in Brockville with their 4 children; Karaline, Courtney, Jeremy and Samara.

Congratulation DS Hallett – our prayers and support are with you from the east as we link hearts and arms for even greater days of Kingdom synergy and eternal impact!

Beulah Family Camp begins in less than two weeks and will feature several highlight moments to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of our historic campground and gathering. The 2019 Camp Evangelists, Lenny Luchetti and Moe Diggs, will serve alongside another inspiring year of worship ministry under the leadership of Kelly Jay. Check out this line up for Super Saturday kick-off for Beulah Family Camp on July 6th – don’t miss the opportunity to have your family and friends enjoy this packed day. Feel free to print this poster for your church bulletin board. To download the 2019 Camp Handbook click HERE – all online event registration is now open.

Deep Water (AJ Thomas) was recently featured in Wesleyan News with an article entitled Following Jesus into Deep Water. The final Riptide Youth Group on Tuesday this week for Student Ministries Pastor Bradford Rogers included 7 baptisms following a Sunday with the same number of baptisms.

Blacks Harbour (John Symonds) celebrated two baptisms yesterday!

Houlton (Wayne Robertson) averaged 150-175 children, plus over 100 volunteers for their Vacation Bible School this week combined with two local Baptist churches. Wayne shared great news, “On Wednesday we had 30 indicate a decision to be a Christ follower! An amazing week of impact in community and high valued volunteers.”

Joel Gorveatte (Moncton) and Youth Pastor Drew Donovan presented gifts to about 20 high school graduates yesterday morning. IMA is not a personal newsletter, but as a proud Dad I couldn’t help but feature the moment for our middle daughter Julia (pictured above).

Ellen joins me in expressing condolences on behalf of the Atlantic District to Pastor Sharon and Dan Simoneau (New Hope) on the passing this week of his mother, Rolande Chapdelaine Simoneau.

THOTS:

  • Jesus picked the disciples – not because they were perfect – but because when they worked together they were unstoppable. (DS Eric Hallett) #strongertogether
  • An unschooled man who knows how to meditate upon the Lord has learned far more than the man with the highest education who does not know how to meditate. (Charles Stanley) #spiritualfoundations

Special thanks to President Steve Lennox for providing these moments of inspiration over the past 40 weeks! Taking Note will be on summer hiatus.
