Monday Again

He and his family are here – PTL. Many of you met/heard Ryan at Beulah as the Upon This Rock (UTR) church planning initiative for Newfoundland was further unpacked. Ryan, Gabrielle and their daughter Annalise arrived last week and are now in St John’s where they were warmly welcomed by Pastor Stuart Marples and the Solid Rock Wesleyan crew. The pic is of Ryan and Peter along with Scott and Chad from c2c, the Mennonite Brethren church planting thrust in Canada. These four conferred in our office last week.

If you or your church made a commitment to UTR during Beulah (about 20K was raised in just a few minutes), payment can be made anytime. Send cheques to the district with UTR in the memo line.  These funds will go to UTR in their entirety.
Havelock NS had a great Back To Church day recently. They kicked off their new Sunday morning LIFE Groups; had their monthly Reach Out Offering and had a church picnic – see picture above. There is definitely an air of expectation around @HWC.
Jay Muir worship pastor at Moncton resigned yesterday. He will be moving to another ministry. Thanks Jay for your service.

Nackawic held their 13th annual Well Walk yesterday. Great contribution to “the least of these” by a determined and motivated smaller church. So far this year, over $4800 has been raised. Well done!

Pastors – District Ministerial memo went out last week. Please read, heed and reply straight away.

Peter was in Miramichi yesterday to install David Green as the pastor. There is optimism in the air…..six first-time visitors present yesterday; August average was 63 (lya 51) and a very encouraging increase in income. This service was unique and meaningful due to the fact that Peter and Dave served together at Dartmouth Hillside and also sang in One Sacrifice, BBC’s male quartet back in the day. Who knows, One Sacrifice might be seen again – keep your eyes open.

The Evangelists Cottage at Beulah, which was offered for sale by bid over the last month, has been sold. The bid deadline was September 15th. The new owners are Robin and Beth Churchill, GP missionaries to Haiti, who submitted the highest of the four bids received. I was confident many of you would be interested in this bit of news as this historic property passes into private ownership.

Congratulations to Kingswood University on 70 years since her opening in Woodstock in 1945, and 50 years on the Sussex campus.

Activities on Friday included:

  • Open House and walk through history curated by Dr. Arthur & Sherry Maxwell at the Earle & Marion Trouten Library in Nicholson Hall, hosted by Dr. & Mrs. Lennox.
  • The Honours Recognition & Celebration Banquet was held in Wesley Hall. An alumnus was honoured as the outstanding alum from each of the decades. Six of those have pastored churches on our districts and one, Don Ingersoll (the  80’s), continues to pastor with excellence at Sussex Wes.
  • Kingswood has served our district and the broader church with distinction across these seven decades. Thanks you Holiness Bible Institute, Bethany Bible College and Kingswood University for being His instrument for the preparation of workers – we are in your debt.

Havelock NS had a great Back To Church day recently. They kicked off their new Sunday morning LIFE Groups meeting time – 9:30; had their monthly Reach Out Offering (part of local missions where we collect spare change); and had a church picnic. There is definitely an air of expectation around at here @HWC and they are ready to be used for His Kingdom work…..onward and upward!

I was honoured to represent our General Superintendent in officiating at an Ordination Service on Saturday in the South Coastal District. Three were ordained and one commissioned in a service held in the 12Stone facility.

Jurassic Park is their present thematic thrust at 12Stone – pretty evident from their main entrance. Over 21,000 attended church at 12Stone last Sunday. Incredible.
