Monday Again

The Lighthouse on Grand Manan celebrated Tim Guptill’s pastoral installation at the conclusion of yesterday morning’s service.  This is the first of seven this fall. This new and gifted pastoral team is generating high confidence and momentum for the days ahead!
Several district churches enjoyed the live simulcast with more than 400 leaders in Moncton this week and at The Rock Church – Bangor for the annual Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit. Thanks to Shane Grant (Moncton Wesleyan) for providing access to the GLS 2017 Community Notes. Three Atlantic Canada locations will repeat the GLS in October in Halifax, Saint John, & St. John’s.  A great annual resource to develop and deepen the leadership bench of your church.

Tim Long (Live Well Community) recently baptized a new couple and dedicated their daughter on the same day as they responded to a “Build the Church” sermon series based on the book of Acts. Days of Kingdom renewal are rising on the Digby Neck!

  • Earlier this summer, Havelock Wesleyan, NB (Glen McVicar) entered a float in the Canada Day 150th Parade and won 3rd place – O Canada!
  • Congratulations to President Stephen & Eileen Lennox (Kingswood University) as they received word this week their applications for Permanent Residency in Canada have been approved!
  • Two of our Wesleyan leaders have been featured this summer on Carey Neiuhof’s Canadian Church Leaders Podcast – check out these great interviews with Brent Ingersoll (Kings Church) on July 2nd and Stephen Elliott (Kingswood University) on August 7th – and if you haven’t already subscribed to this great resource, why not?
  • Shawn Craven (Havelock Wesleyan, NS) will have surgery (to be scheduled) before the end of August to remove half of his liver and all of the tumour.   His surgeon is optimistic no further treatment will be required – please pray our Great Physician will bring total healing and a speedy recovery. It was announced yesterday to the Havelock Wesleyan family that Charles & Ruby Bain will be serving as Interim Senior Pastor (with Tracy Marr) for three months effective next Sunday until Shawn is ready to return. Special thanks to the Atlantic Tribe for all your prayer and support of the Cravens and for the Bains as first-class, proven Kingdom servants who will once again step into the gap for the HWC family.

GLS Thot: We naturally criticize something we don’t understand or can’t control. We must overcome this. The moment you start criticizing, you stop learning. When you stop learning, you stop leading. When you stop leading, your people wither. (Andy Stanley)
On Second GLS Thot: You don’t have to compete with evil. Forgive them. (Immaculee Ilibagiza)
Bonus GLS Thot: All great leadership flows from great dreams. Fear is the silent destroyer of dreams and a leader’s potential. (Gary Haugen)
