Atlantic Connexion

Another name is written down in the Lamb’s Book of Life – Julianne at West Head (Vince Robertson). She came to Christ the week before Beulah! A perfect preface to this week’s VBS.
The church’s Canada Day entry won “Best Original” float. Vince shared about Sunday’s celebration, “What a glorious Cape Island day for a baptism at the causeway…then on to Stoney Island for a BBQ and swimming!”
“The Great Outdoors” VBS offers five powerful lessons. Getting quiet with God. Getting to know Him. Becoming His Child. Getting to know Him better. The curriculum included a 31-day follow-up devotional that many of the 25 kids have started this week.  FIVE of the 25 made first-time commitments for Christ (ages 8-11) – PTL!
Riverside Camp Season in Full-Swing!
Riverside Camp had another short yet highly impactful camping season again this year with over 100 campers, 11 baptisms, and 20 decisions to follow Jesus!

Parker Davis (Framework) shared, “From my perspective, the highlight of our camping season was hearing the stories and testimonies from camp staff who have committed to continue to disciple their campers throughout the upcoming school year! In short, Riverside Camp has seen a fresh group of young adults and high school students step into the role of disciple makers. It was pretty incredible to watch from the sidelines as the Spirit both filled and flowed through our staff!”

  • Thanks to all those who make Riverside Camp possible. Feel free to join in this week during Family Camp as Seth Fancy (Kings – Halifax) shares The Word.

On Caton’s Island the second Family Camp Weekend included nearly 170 campers!

During my DS duties on Southwest Nova Scotia, I had opportunity to swing by for my first visit at the new location of Coastal (Jason Parker). They have been worshipping in this 24-7 facility since March. When you lease space that used to be a bar, you end up with a pretty awesome Welcome Center!

  • Resident Pastor Alex Machett makes a VERY good cup of coffee too. We are so blessed by the leadership of AJ Plaizier (Yarmouth) and his vision for multi-church.

While enjoying breakfast on Wednesday morning in Barrington with Vince Robertson, we met one of the ten new Believers who had been baptized at Coastal on the Sunday following Easter. Exciting Days of Kingdom expansion on the South Shore!

It was a privilege to join in with Kevin, Laura & Elijah Myers (Brazil Lake) at Marco’s in Yarmouth as we celebrated her birthday this week!
Another fun tag-on to district business this week was games night with my friend Josh at Iceworks and a few of his friends including Tim Conrad (Woods Harbour).
The Reach is Getting Ready to Relocate & Relaunch!
Work continues under the capable leadership of Andy Phillips (The Reach) as the Beals Island location recently completed installation of a new roof. Plans are in place for the first service in the refurbished and updated facility to become the permanent home of The Reach family beginning on November 20th.

  • If you have connections with either of these former congregations (Jonesport/Beals), why not save the date and plan to show up to encourage this new day?

Superintendent Kamal of the Wesleyan Standard Church
It was an honour this week to serve alongside our Global Partners Area Director as we met with the National Superintendent of the Wesleyan Standard Church of Egypt. Rev. Kamal is a kind, wise, fun, and anointed spiritual leader who faithfully serves our 25 partners churches from Alexandria to Luxor.

  • We are blessed to have such men and women of God serving at the helm of His work around the world.
Congratulations to Martin & Lis Stehouwer (Saint John First) on the happy arrival of Emelia Grace born July 25th (8 lbs. 21 in.). Lis shared, “[Big brother] Lucas is (literally) shouting announcements of her arrival and is excited to meet her. Mom, Dad and baby girl are doing well.”
  • There comes a time in your spiritual life when you can’t go any farther unless you take someone with you. (Steve DeNeff) #disciplemaker
  • Scars remind us where we’ve been. They don’t have to dictate where we’re going. (David Rossi)
  • Coaching helps you go farther faster. Farther is the wisdom. Faster is the accountability. (Tim Shaw)
