| Summer Baptisms Continue! |
|
Island (Brian Gilroy) celebrate six baptisms this month in the Northumberland Strait – Praise God! One of those was Brian & Kimberley’s oldest child, Jeshuah. Family is first ministry and nothing is sweeter for our Ministerial Tribe than the joy of baptizing our own kids.
- Yarmouth (AJ Plaizier), Coastal (Jason Parker) & South (Tom Cann) celebrated 19 baptisms in their multi-church network on Sunday – PTL!
|
|
The Reach (Andy Phillips) held it’s annual church picnic on August 20th. Andy shared, “While the food and games and fellowship were good, the highlight of the day was our baptism service. A mother and son braved the cold Atlantic waters to publicly confess their belief in Jesus and intention to follow Him!”

- Riverside Wesleyan Camp just over the border in Maine is one of the Atlantic District’s cherished ministries. This zone camp not only serves churches in northern Maine & New Brunswick, but has a broad reach throughout our District Tribe with many who have long-standing connections and history.
2023 was a fantastic post-pandemic season of ministry. Camp Board Chair, Parker Davis ( Framework) shared, “There was a singular focus this summer. Everything we did centered around ‘Life in the Spirit.’ Both our Kids Camp and High School camp centered on the armour of God. while Middle School and Family Camp centered around cultivating intimacy & union with the Holy Spirit. Over the course of our camping season we saw 98 campers for our children’s camps and an average of 60 each night during family camp. These numbers may be small but we saw an increase in 36 campers across our three camps as well as higher attendance each night at family camp (what helped family camp was offering children’s programming during the service and supper). With about 60-65 total campers in 2021 this is a sign of growing momentum.”
|
|
|
Parker’s update continues, “Riverside had five baptisms during kids camp! Throughout the two weeks of middle and High school camps we saw consistent and wonderful acts of the Spirit. What strikes me the most is that almost every day I heard campers and staff tell me stories of how they were seeing the Holy Spirit at work in ways they had never seen before.”
- During Family Camp the Board launched a plan for revonationing both the boys and girls dorms. The goal is to partner with local churches to give everything in our dorms a face lift. One is completed as pictured above and a couple of churches have committed to finishing another three before the end of the fall. CLICK HERE for more information on the Dorm Renovation plan. | Our third Pastoral Installation took place on Sunday at River Valley as I had the privilege in formally appointing Darren (Janel) Clark as Lead Pastor. It was an encouraging service with upbeat worship, times of prayer for healing and a special conclusion as Founding Pastor Dave McElhinney offered a prayer over the Clarks for the season of leadership ahead! God is up to something good in Grand Bay and the future is bright. |

- The people in our community may go to hell but they’ll have to go through us to get there. (Denn Guptill) #depopulatehell

Join us at Caton’s Island for a great weekend as we explore our purpose as men which God has set in our hearts. Great food (smoked brisket), lots of fun with zipline, skeet shooting and axe throwing and the camaraderie of other men. Don’t miss out on a great time and bring a friend.
- Caton’s Island has reached 95% of the 2025 Vision… so far! With 1917 campers this summer, we would only need 108 men come to the men’s weekend to crush this goal two years ahead of schedule – PTL!

The Wesleyan Church has the premier seminal egalitarian influence in the history of the North American Church as our antecedent denominations Ordained the first woman both in America and in Canada. Luther Lee (Wesleyan Methodist) Ordained the first woman in the USA in 1853, and Rev. Ella Kinney Sanders was Ordained by the Reformed Baptist Alliance of Canada in 1901.
As you have likely heard, E&CD is celebrating PreacHer Sunday this September! What is PreacHer Sunday about? It is encouraging every Wesleyan Church to invite a woman to preach at least one Sunday during the month of September.
- We recognize that many of our Wesleyan churches do not have females on staff. To help navigate this, HQ has created a database of women available to preach during the month of September. HQ is asking that all credentialed women use this form (CLICK HERE) to share their availability to preach in September. If you would like assistance in finding the right fit for your church, please contact DBA Member, Victoria Rowe (Framework) at pastorvictoria@framework.church.
Thank you for partnering with us as we encourage women and men together to share the transforming message of Jesus!
- It was also announced during an event for Women in Ministry @ Beulah Family Camp that the Atlantic District will provide a 100% reimbursement on the registration expense for any credentialed lady from our Ministerial Tribe who chooses to attend the Wesleyan Holiness Women Clergy Conference on March 7-9, 2024. CLICK HERE for registration details (travel, lodging, and meals are a personal/church expense).
Early bird registration concludes on October 15th.
