Atlantic Connexion

This time of year our churches in Southwest Nova find meaningful ways to support the lobster fishing industry and all the families engaged in the start of the season on Dumping Day.

  • This month, Yarmouth (AJ Plaizier) offered five fisherman’s services at Yarmouth Wesleyan, Coastal, & South campuses across the network. They also took Jesus into two new communities and offered “one off” fisherman’s services in Pubnico and Wedgeport. There were also opportunities for coffee deliveries to the wharfs with additional prayers and tangible expressions of ministry.

Joanne Ozon (Hope) shared a video at their Fisherman’s Service which included interviews with five local fishermen. CLICK HERE to be inspired with their testimonies.

West Head (Vince Robertson) had more than 70 in attendance for their Fisherman’s Service which included a fun skit with two ladies putting on fishing gear while wearing oven mitts.

Framework (Jason Blaikie) delivered or gave away almost 500 meals at its annual Thanksgiving dinner outreach. Jason shared, “One of our meals was given to a man living in a camper. A church member saw him in a parking lot and asked to meet at Lowe’s by 11:00am on Thanksgiving day. They showed up at his camper in Lowe’s parking lot with a meal in hand and they were able to talk with and pray for him. So many have reasons they can’t have a special dinner on Thanksgiving. In this outreach we try our best to be in people’s home, sharing a meal (or at least delivering one) and the love of Christ with as many as we can.”

Nov 24th Riverview Demolition @ Beulah Camp
Earlier this month the DBA approved Phase One of the Tabernacle Terrace Project which is being effectively co-chaired by Rob Trafton & Shirley Mullen. The first of three phases required the demolition of of this iconic structure which was erected in 1896 – only two years after the first Beulah Family Camp. A special service to honour the 127-year legacy of this facility occured next to Riverview last Monday (CLICK HERE to view a video of this event and to download the program).

  • Here is an excerpt from one of the King’s Highway publications in the summer of 1896 announcing the arrival of this facility.

Brazil Lake (Kevin Myers) had more than 70 in attendance this Sunday with nine Spanish-speaking friends. Kevin shared, “We did our first ever Spanish & English service at Brazil Lake. Jonathan is a Peruvian Pastor who is now living in Canada and attending Brazil Lake Wesleyan and heading up our Spanish-English ministry on Sundays. The day was capped off by a giant potluck with several Spanish themed plates of food, and some great fellowship welcoming our new friends! It all started from getting a little work done on our porch roof. Pay attention to what God is doing and you never know what He’s gonna send your way!”

Phase One Completed on “The Lodge” – Caton’s Island

Caton’s Island Giving Tuesday

In the landscape of today we need safe places that challenge and help shape who we are.  Summer camp is one of those places.  It sparks memories in all who have attended: memories of friends around a campfire, challenges to be conquered, and confidence to be gained.  Without the support of others volunteering their time or finances, we wouldn’t be as effective in reaching as many campers.  As costs increase, we need more partners to help support our mission.  This Giving Tuesday is a great opportunity to partner with us.  Please consider a gift toward Phase Two of our new Staff Lodge or a monthly gift to continue the ministry.

The Reach Wesleyan Makes Advent Connection

The Reach (Andy Phillips) family had a blast this Saturday joining with the community for the Moosabec Parade of Lights. Andy shared, “Don’t worry – this Grinch loves Christmas! The Down East Christmas season has officially started!”

Christmas @ Heartland Success
A beautiful start to the Advent Season was enjoyed by five sold out seatings of the first-ever Heartland Christmas Dinner. Rob & Marti Trafton provided a Christmas Carol sing-a-long as guests enjoyed fellowship together over a delicious Christmas meal provided by Beulah Camp & Conference Center Chef Hannah Wright.

Congratulations to the newest couple in our Atlantic Ministerial Tribe! Pastor Luc & Sherry Reed (Crystal Wesleyan) were joined in holy matrimony this Saturday at her home church in St. Stephen, NB.

  • The Almighty appeared on earth as a helpless human baby, needing to be fed and changed and taught to talk like any other child. The more you think about it, the more staggering it gets. Nothing in fiction is so fantastic as this truth of the Incarnation. (J.I. Packer)
  • When we are at our best we seek to understand, push back selfishness and put others first, extend grace and work toward a common goal or at least healthy compromise. (Dan Reiland)
  • We ought to give thanks for all fortune: if it is good, because it is good, if bad, because it works in us patience, humility and the contempt of this world and the hope of our eternal country. (C.S. Lewis)

Being vs. Doing – A Critical Reminder

The energy and excitement of fall momentum is palpable. These are the easiest days to slip into old habits… to our peril of both cause and soul. Tyler Stanton gives us a phenomenal reminder about the essential rhythms of Vine-abiding that come through an intentional Rule of Life.
