It’s Monday Again

There’s been something in the water lately at Blacks Harbour (Ken Banks). Yesterday they celebrated seven baptisms – PTL! Earlier this month, a dedication service was held for nine children. Every number has a name, and every name is on the Father’s mind and in His heart. Ken shared, “The last girl was spur of the moment. I had the joy of baptizing our youngest son as well, Brayden. There was a great range of ages baptized, including two couples. As you can see, the weather was great but the Spirit was greater. Some pretty fun stuff going on in Blacks!” There is no greater privilege for a Pastor than to baptize your own child – family is FIRST ministry – congratulations Brayden, Ken & April!
Houlton (Wayne Robertson) had an exciting week of VBS with over 120 children attending. There were 26 children who made decision to follow Christ – Praise God! Wayne shared, “It was a joy to partner with two other churches to make a Kingdom impact in our community.”

This weekend Framework honored Bud & Irene Fancy as he begins his 50th year of ministry. LBA ViceChair John Christie shared a few remarks and presented them with a gift on behalf of the church family. This special highlight in the service included sharing videos from each of his sons (Seth & Zach) as they were unable to be present in-person. Bud & Irene’s daughter Taylor also shared a few heartfelt comments of congratulations.

  • Board member Noah Winslow shared, “God has truly been honored and glorified by this pastor, his family, and his service through the years! Although Pastor Bud’s 50 years of service were not all in Presque Isle, we consider it a great privilege to have this opportunity to celebrate and honor him at this milestone of Kingdom service.”
On Saturday, June 18th, Hillside held a farewell reception for Pastors Jay & Sharon Guptill, and Mike Zotarelli. The Hillside family has been greatly blessed by their leadership and we are thankful for the lasting impact celebrated by the longest serving Lead Pastor in Hillside’s history.
It’s been a HUGE week in Presque Isle! Framework (Bud Fancy) wanted to do something for the community. Something that would reach beyond the walls of the church and provide a connecting point for the entire community, a place that would attract college students and start a brand new ministry.
  • Then came the year-long process of Hub Coffee leading to opening day just one week ago on June 20th. Before the doors were even open, at least three people accepted Jesus and were baptised because of relationships built in the process. An official Grand Opening will be held later in August after the colleges are back in full swing.
This freshly ground expression of the Gospel and new Kingdom location has opened with a frothy bang! The first week was non-stop with an average of around 200 customers per day. By the end of the week, the decision was made to increase the hours because of demand. The initial “best case scenario” goal for gross sales was tripled by week-end and the staff, capably led by Manager & Pastor, Dave Rowe, was blown away with a tip jar that exceeded $1K.
Jason Blaikie serves as point leader on behalf of Framework and is Chair of the Hub Coffee board. Jason shared, “It has been amazing seeing the walls between church and community break down. College students still around for the summer have initiated their own Bible study. People who were skeptical at a Church starting a coffee shop flooded through the doors as reviews were posted of the amazing atmosphere and coffee being served. Revenue-wise we over tripled our sales projections and had to make an emergency run to our roasters because we would have sold out of coffee by Wednesday morning! Dave Rowe and our Hub team have been amazing at handling the overwhelming community turn-out with grace and energy.”

Jason continues, “We have been blessed as even other businesses have been dropping food off to our employees welcoming us to town for this opening week.  We are learning, we are trying, and we now have a unique presence in our town. Join us in prayer as we take the next steps to see how this coffee shop can be used as a place to glorify God and as summer ends, be a missional location for college students and the rest of the community.”

Bud shared, “In my 50 years of Kingdom leadership I have never seen a ministry led by the Church that has been celebrated by Christians and non-Christians alike as I have during this first week of Hub Coffee. It has been overwhelmingly positive. Everyone in the County knows the name of Framework.”
A select group of the DBMD convened this week to conduct final interviews in preparation for District Conference. Jon Robertson (Kings – Charlottetown) was the final of sevensuccessful Ordination candidates this year who will be presented to District Conference for official election as Ordinands on July 7th for the ceremony the following day. It was an incredible interview and our hearts were full with thanks to God for how He is raising up gifted people like Jon & Leesa who are deeply committed to pursuing the Godly character by His Spirit required for Kingdom leadership.
  • In addition to the Class of 2022, there will be nine others (of eleven total) joining from from the Classes of 2020 & 2021 to take part in the full Ordination service as the pandemic necessitated a brief Zoom ceremony in those years.
  • More than 1/3 of those Ordained over these three years are women and we are blessed to have Rev. Tanya Nace bringing the Ordination message. The ranks of our Ministerial Tribe are growing in number and strength – thanks be to God!
The Beulah Office was buzzing on Friday as Delegate Packets were prepared for District Conference (July 7th). All Ministerial & Lay Delegates (both voting & voice-only) are encouraged to pick up their packets early (beginning today) during office hours prior to July 7th. On the morning of District Conference, the remaining Delegate Packets will be available at a registration table upon entry of the Tabernacle.
  • Observers will be welcome to pick up leftover packets as supplies remain available at the registration table on the day of conference.
Ellen joins me in expressing sincere and heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Atlantic District for Dr. HC and the Wilson family as early Tuesday morning, Gloria passed over into the arms of Jesus. We offer a special word of love and support to Troy and Kristi as they walk this valley. As many of you know, Karrilee is Gloria’s niece and we also lift up her and all the extended family. CLICK HERE for her obituary where you may also post online condolences.
Hearts are heavy, but not empty. God’s presence has been richly dwelling with the loved ones who have gathered around Dr. HC and Gloria over these past weeks. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Beulah Tabernacle on Wednesday, July 6th @ 2:00 p.m. Every Atlantic pastor is expected to be present as we gather in the strength of our ministerial tribe to honour this incredible lady.
  • Ministerial Family Instructions: Ministers and spouses may sit anywhere you choose in the Tabernacle. You will be free to select any of the five entrances as each double-doorway will have an usher with bulletins and a guest book to sign. Please be prepared to stand in the service when instructed by the DS during his remarks. By request of the family there will be no visitation in advance of the service and no honour guard following. In lieu of a reception, you are encouraged to find moments during the remainder of Beulah Family Camp to express your support one-on-one for the Wilson family as opportunity allows.
Dr. HC, we love you and are lifting you up to our Heavenly Father. We know you walk in His strength and we pray that the Comforter will continue to provide all you need as we prepare to join you in celebrating Gloria’s life.
Legacy Point to Ponder
  • To know her was to love her! To me, she represented a “mover and a shaker” ~ a worker for the Lord with a huge servant’s heart! Gloria ~ you were indeed a “Proverbs 31 lady” and you endeared yourself to countless people and touched our lives with love and kindness and “cups of cold water” given in Jesus’ Name! (Becky Palmer)
