It’s Monday Again

On September 29th Yarmouth (AJ Plaizier) will be launching a satellite in Barrington in partnership with Woods Harbour (Jason Parker). Jason had the privilege of baptizing the first two people of a Coastal Church gathering yesterday as part of an open-air preview service. Stay tuned for this exciting new transforming Kingdom presence!

Barry Vernon (Port Maitland) reported two baptisms last weekend and shared these new Believers will be entering a discipleship relationship this month. #renewdiscipleshippathways

Caton’s Island Teen Camp had 25 first-time salvation decisions and 26 recommitments – PTL! This was an incredible week as Bradford Rogers (Moncton) preached each night to 150+ registered campers.

The Choate Dining Hall Expansion will be completing Phase One construction by mid-September. Thanks to all those who have contributed to the $255K raised this year to increase the seating capacity from 108 inside to 230+ (above left). The wrap-around deck will add enough seating for more than 420 to be seated per meal. Phase two begins next year! The Caton’s Staff left the island on Saturday after a record summer of campers (above right). Careful records are kept for the spiritual impact of this thriving ministry. The summer totals for recommitments was 104 and for first-time decisions to follow Jesus was 119 – total of 223 (the most ever in the 33 year history of Caton’s Island)! And speaking of student ministry…

As the summer comes to an end, tens of thousands of students across Atlantic Canada get ready to return to their university towns. This presents a unique opportunity to local churches in these towns to minister to these young adults. If you know of any students headed to university/college, please pass on this list of the churches and follow-up with them to encourage their involvement in the early weeks of settling into school.IMPORTANT: Research conducted by the EFC shows that when a non-family member from the student’s home church helps them make early connections with a nearby faith community it is the greatest predictor for young adults to maintain their personal walk of faith.

Beulah Camp Overseer Steve Bradley (Browns Flat Fellowship) and Caretaker Bruce Cheney hosted the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Thursday. The ongoing Kingdom impact of Beulah would simply not be possible without the immeasurable efforts of those pictured above.

Doug Tatton will be concluding service as Conference Coordinator and it was announced that Nicki White will be succeeding him in this critical leadership role for Beulah Camp effective September 1st. Congratulations Nicki and welcome aboard! Please contact her moving forward for booking and rental information (cc@beulahcamp.com, 506.343.3107).

Celebrate Recovery Nova Scotia Rep Shaun MacKenzie (Deep Water) conducted a training day this week for 23 leaders (pictured above) from Brazil Lake (Kevin Myers), Woods Harbour (Jason Parker), and Yarmouth (AJ Plaizier). Shaun shared, “Yarmouth is set to launch CR on October 21st under the leadership of Kelly Hazelton. We look forward to hearing the amazing stories that will come out of this group!”

Saint John First (Graham Perry) celebrated Faith Promise Sunday yesterday with a new record for monthly commitments in giving to missions of $1,715 ($20,500+ for the year). This is the fourth year of this above-and-beyond challenge to this growing church family and Graham reports that each year more has actually been given than the amount projected in Faith Promise commitments. If you are looking to turn up the heat on our core value of global collective in your church, Graham would be willing to come and preach for your first Faith Promise Sunday.

Points to Ponder:

  • When you volunteer you are voting for the future of a ministry. There is no “i” in team but there is a “u” in volunteer. (Bruce Cheney)
