First Pastoral Installation of 2023
The first Sunday of the our fiscal year was celebrated at Moncton Wesleyan with the Pastoral Installation of new Lead Pastor Jim Clements! Pastor B preached a powerful message on the infilling of the Holy Spirit and the service concluded with a prayer over Jim & Gisele offered by Dr. HC. Vice Chair Kevin Campbell said it perfectly at the beginning of this transition, “God is in control, He has a plan, and we CAN trust Him!”
Saint John First (Graham Perry) had over 70 ladies attend their annual Rooted in Community event on Saturday. Children’s Pastor Rebecca Perry shared, “We spent the day talking about how love and vulnerability must be part of how we serve and act within our church and community. This event built upon how our church has been talking about how the Lord has called us to live and learn in community, to point others toward Him. We topped off the weekend with the baptism of a lady who came to know Christ through our online service. Amazing weekend!”
Joanne LeRoy @ West Head Wesleyan
This weekend West Head (Vince Robertson) hosted a Ladies weekend, Bloom Where You’re Planted. Joanne LeRoy was guest speaker. On Friday night 15 ladies gathered and made a quilt in 3 hours. It is being sent to Juniper House, a women’s shelter.

  • Assistant Pastor Karen Robertson shared, “On Saturday afternoon we had a ladies tea. The gym was decorated with quilts, some dating from the 1920’s. Joanne brought a powerful message. My neighbour came yesterday to the tea. She has never attended. She came to me with tears in her eyes and said, ‘She spoke what I needed to hear.’ Amazing message!”
Encounter (Jim Agrell) had a Global Impact Sunday to celebrate involvement in Missions locally and around the world. Jim shared, “We hosted a first ever International Dinner and had families who call Sussex home from Syria, Germany, Latvia, Ukraine, Mexico, Colombia, Iran, Uganda, and China. It was a great day to celebrate what God is doing around the world and in our own community of Sussex!”
A Farewell to the General Board
This week Dr. HC concluded service on the General Board of The Wesleyan Church. (Special thanks to Dr. Steve DeNeff for capturing this farewell moment and sending it my way.) He was first elected in the early 1980’s and his four plus decades of distinguished service at every level of our denomination’s city gate have modeled a celebrated legacy of Kingdom stewardship and longevity. He was duly honoured by General Superintendent Wayne Schmidt during the 149th Session of the General Board! If you have ever been impacted by the wisdom of this once-in-a-century leader, CLICK HERE to share a word of appreciation for his stellar service.

Havelock (Shawn Craven) hosted more than 100 first responders yesterday who are using the church as command centre for the community to help fire departments and the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables fight a large out-of-control wildfire nearby.

  • This comes only two days after Shawn and Assistant Pastor Kathryn Brooks conducted a packed out funeral for Terry Melanson, Past Chief of Weymouth Fire Department.

Both Captain Shawn & Lieutenant Kathryn serve as volunteer firefighters and chaplains. An inspiring example of how God can use longevity in ministry by building connections with and for the community. Havelock Wesleyan, You make us proud.
