The Advent of Christ – The Gift of Waiting…

The first week of Advent is now upon us with a flurry of concerts and programs underway! It is the most wonderful time of the year to share the truth about the Christ-child. May His Presence in and through us open hearts for the transforming work of His Spirit this Christmas season.

Kings (Brent Ingersoll) had its first-ever double Jingle Jam on Friday evening (December 1st) at both the Halifax and Valley locations. Both events were packed with new families, tons of fun, food, drama and games. It was an amazing opportunity to reach into their communities. Hats off to Children’s Pastor Linda Lamos and her leaders.

  • Additionally there were about 15 child dedications (bottom pic) on Sunday as well – a perfect way to launch the Advent Season!
Combined Youth Ministry in Grand Bay

Darren Clark (River Valley) shared, “We had a First Light event in town on the weekend. An all nighter with the Baptists and Anglicans and us gathering together. Youth Pastor Mike Ross and crew stayed up all night running around the city doing various activities then coming back to River Valley for a rally and a movie. 35 plus kids and a few that we are excited to have made a connection within our own congregation!”

  • Deep Water Update: AJ (Kelly) Thomas shared his resignation as Lead Pastor over four services this weekend. He will continue to serve through the time of usual pastoral transition in July. At the heart of Caton’s Island is our mission to reach thousands of children and teens for Christ.

As 2023 draws to a close, we want to FINISH STRONG.  The inflationary costs of programming, feeding our campers, and maintaining our facilities have hit us harder than anticipated. Will you consider an end of year financial gift to this important Kingdom work?

  • Your gift will ensure that we will continue to share Jesus Christ with this generation and the generations to come. We’re on our way to 2,025 campers by 2025!

Carl shared, “Today, we have a Wesleyan house-church in Chad where several former Muslims are worshiping Christ as Lord and Saviour. Our job is to find leaders like Ibrahim, to equip them, strategize with them, and facilitate their ministry by keeping them accountable and connected. We do this by recruiting leaders, meeting with them regularly, by developing training curriculums, preparing training events and passing the baton when the time comes.”

Being vs. Doing – A Critical Reminder

The energy and excitement of fall momentum is palpable. These are the easiest days to slip into old habits… to our peril of both cause and soul. Tyler Stanton gives us a phenomenal reminder about the essential rhythms of Vine-abiding that come through an intentional Rule of Life.
