Atlantic Connexion

Palm Sunday was celebrated at West Head (Vince Robertson) as pictured above with 50+ present as Holy Week launched with plans for a full schedule of services in the weekend ahead on Good Friday, Easter Sunrise (followed by a Fellowship B’fast) and of course Easter Sunday ahead!

  • The start of Easter Week on the other end of the district was impacted by a seasonal squall of snowfall that shut down most Palm Sunday services in Aroostook County (Maine) and Carleton County (New Brunswick) – see bottom picture!

Fort Fairfield (Community Wesleyan with Kevin Jackins) topped the list with two feet and Woodstock Wesleyan (Dale MacDonald) got shut down with 41 cms. Welcome to spring ministry in the Atlantic region.

DBMD Conducts Ordination Interviews

Pastoral Transitions

  • It was announced on Sunday at CenterPoint that Amy (Travis) Taylor will be candidating as the next Lead Pastor on April 7th.
  • Nathan (Vicky) Maskery candidated in four services at two locations with Deep Water this weekend. The congregation will be voting this week and final announcements will be shared post-Easter Sunday.
  • Seth (Lauryn) Cooney (Kings West) will be concluding his position as Worship Leader in June as he pursues next steps in ministry preparation and training for the season ahead.
  • Successful Pastoral Evaluations were conducted over the past week with Journey (Matt Maxwell), Cornerstone (Denn Guptill), West Head (Vince Robertson), & Hope (Joanne Ozon).
  • The forward is far more ancient than I think ever before. Following Jesus as my way means I come and die EVERY DAY and discover a whole new life with Him as LORD. (John Lamos) #holinessinaction
  • Vulnerability is not weakness; it’s courage in its purest form. (Full Strength Network)
  • God’s heart is one of grace, and grace is not the soft side of truth. Forgiveness doesn’t lower God’s standards, it elevates His love. When we forgive someone we are more connected to the heart of God. (Dan Reiland)

Pastors are also being encouraged to consider how their churches may be led to engage with the Multiplication Networks in the Central Canada District.

A high quality resource has just been launched as the Wesleyan Diaspora Network (WDN) which is a joint initiative of CMAD and GP. Justin Bradbury (Lead Pastor of Calgary Wesleyan and Regional Director of Western Canada in the Central Canada District) has been working with denominational leaders to prepare this exciting new resource for our pastors and churches.

  • The WDN exists to connect, resource, and equip leaders desiring to love and serve newcomer communities to North America, and to partner with diaspora Christians in disciple-making and church planting efforts.

The WDN seeks to accomplish this by:

  • Creating learning environments for acquiring best practices in diaspora ministry
  • Connecting leaders to coaches and mentors with expertise in diaspora mission
  • Equipping North American leaders to develop Kingdom partnerships with diaspora Christians

The WDN will launch with its first 6-week learning community, commencing April 11 and running until May 16. CLICK HERE for a detailed two-page overview of this 6-week resource.
