Monday Again

Deep Water’s North St location is ready to go. Looks great and it is a stirring example of redemption – bringing the building back to its original purpose. Onward and upward.

Snowbirds take note. The annual Atlantic Snowbirds Breakfast will take place this Saturday, Feb 1, 2014 at the Country Kitchen in Brooksville at 9 AM. Gloria and I will be honoured to host this event and all who attend will be guests of our district.  We will be receiving an offering, the proceeds of which will help fund the Jesus Film, the most effective evangelistic tool in the history of Christianity. See many of you there.

KU #1 Save the Date – April 1 and 2 at Kingswood. Rev. Steve DeNeff and Dr. Lenny Lucetti will be leading a “Festival on Preaching.” This two-day event will feature seminars from them and several other preaching experts.  Additionally, several Emerging Young Preachers will receive personal coaching to help develop their homiletical skills. Details to follow.
KU #2  As reported earlier, over the Christmas season, Kingswood received $500,000 in two gifts to reduce the chapel debt.  Very recently the University received a further $100,000 to be applied against the debt – $600,000 in a month.  PTL!

We presently have a Missions Team in Cuba. The team comes from three of our churches and is led by Rev. Rod Guptill. Have you been on a Mission Trip recently? At least three opportunities will be unveiled at Beulah 2014.
As mentioned last week, services have been discontinued at Shelburne Hope Wesleyan. This is a sad reality and our prayers are with the Gilberts and the small remaining remnant at Shelburne. Pastor Stefan Gilbert will be serving as part-time Assistant Pastor at West Head for the next several months as well as caring for wrap up duties at Shelburne. The district intends to retain the church and parsonage for a possible relaunch at a later date.
On Monday morning of last week, I met with two of the Leadership Team (LT) from Deep Water as we begin their first journey down the pastoral transition road. Solid guys with great hearts for ministry. I will be meeting with their full LT soon.
Our sympathy is extended to Mrs. Elsie Kent (Rev. Ole) on the passing of her brother Stanley Perry. Stan was a part of our New Hope Valley church in Kentville.

Join us in the Wesleyan Community Bible Experience February 24 – April 20, 2014. The Wesleyan Church has partnered with Biblica to challenge the church to read the New Testament in 40 days, coinciding with lent and Easter. For more information please visit the Community Bible Experience on the headquarters website.
Gloria and I will be in Florida all of this week returning on Monday, Feb 3rd. We will be attending the annual DS/GS Institute as well as hosting the Snowbirds Breakfast (SB) on Saturday. We began the SB at least a decade ago and it is great to see the interest and connections this event fosters.
I will be available by email, text (506.962.2263), twitter and cell phone while away. Feel free to be in touch as/if needed.
THOT: When we submit to God’s plans, we can trust our desires. Our assignment is found at the intersection of God’s plan and our pleasures. – Max Lucado
