Atlantic Connexion

Blacks Harbour Wesleyan (Ken Banks) sent a team last week to partner with The Wesleyan Church of Nicaragua. Ken shared, “We had an amazing adventure and were able to show God’s love through hard work, whether by serving with a local team making a concrete floor / walls or painting classrooms. We spent four days teaching kids from K-11 English through games and crafts; including enjoying a pinata day for each of the grades. We visited homes praying for needs and delivering Bibles. We purchased food and gave it away in care packages. The people were so open to the Gospel – they came to us asking for Bibles! Well worth the time and money – recommend a missions trip to everyone!!!”
World Hope Video – Impact in Haiti
World Hope International (Canada CEO Tanya Nace) just wrapped up a beautiful partnership with The Wesleyan Church of Haiti to provide food and hygiene kits to people seeking refuge in our Wesleyan churches from gang violence and displacement. CLICK HERE to check out this incredible video.
  • Saint John First (Graham Perry) & Tidal (Jim Clements) tag-teamed a recent missions trip to serve in partnership with Lighthouse Wesleyan on 8-Mile Rock in the Bahamas. CLICK HERE to enjoy the highlights.
  • The theme of the 5th International Conference of The Wesleyan Church (ICWC) was Everywhere to Everywhere – Reaching the Unreached TOGETHER! It was an incredible privilege to be present as an observer during this three-day event in Johannesburg, South Africa in January where I shared a room with Superintendent Kamal who leads the Wesleyan Standard Church of Egypt.

With 400 in attendance (about 90 official delegates), it was by far the most effective ICWC we have had since we began this new structure for our global Wesleyan tribe in 2008. A HUGE commendation is well-earned by the Co-Coordinators of this conference, Rev. Doctor Galela (Regional Superintendent, Southern Africa Region) and Rev. Nikki Nettleton (Global Partners Director of Learning & Leadership). A personal highlight was the message they tag-teamed in one of the main rallies – so transparent and equipping for this new day of Everywhere to Everywhere for our the 21st century Wesleyan Church.

  • As a Zambian MK, it was such an honour to sit under the inspiring message on holiness preached by Bishop Juden Siachitema (pictured middle left) of the Pilgrim Wesleyan Church of Zambia. The following week, I enjoyed the privilege of co-leading a Vision Tour of 24 team members in Zambia with Dr. Henry Smith for the dedication of African Wesleyan University – more on this in a future Connexion.

I was also privileged to connect a couple of times with the leader of Immanuel General Mission (IGM), President Norihito Abraham (pictured with his wife middle right). This Affiliate Conference of the ICWC has been a long-standing partner with the global Wesleyan family and is where our Global Partners (GP) Atlantic District missionaries Robin & Yoko White serve. CLICK HERE for the White’s most recent newsletter which highlights that IGM will celebrate its 80th Anniversary later this month – congratulations to our Japanese brothers and sisters!

Étienne Family – First Long-Term Missionaries FROM Haiti
Windel & Yolie Étienne, along with their son Hudson, are Haiti’s first long-term missionaries. In 2019, they moved to Burkina Faso where they faithfully and effectively ministered for 5 years. In 2025, they transitioned to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. With Windel’s exceptional teaching and leadership gifts, he now oversees the missionary school in Likasi, equipping leaders and creating a lasting impact across French-speaking nations. Yolie is building connections, mentoring, and making disciples among children and youth.
  • If you’re looking for an investment with eternal impact, consider partnering with Windel and his family. You can support this incredible mission through prayer and by contributing financially to his relocation to the DRC or by becoming a monthly partner. Together, we can help equip and send more laborers into the harvest! To know more about Windel, please visit his website.

From Brazil to Japan – Everywhere to Everywhere
Earlier this year after the ICWC, The Wesleyan Church of Brazil – for second time – commissioned and sent Pastor Maya as their full-time missionary to Japan with IGM. Our Wesleyan leaders in Brazil shared, “The harvest is ready, we have to go… 🇧🇷🇯🇵🌏! With great joy and gratitude to God, we want to share that Pastor Maya arrived safely in Japan and is now reunited with her family! We are immensely grateful for your prayers, affection and support throughout the process. We know that each intercession was essential for this special moment to happen.”
A Special Visitor in Egypt Last Week

I have had the unique privilege of serving in an ongoing assignment at the invitation of GP (and with the ongoing blessing of the Atlantic District) with the Wesleyan Standard Church of Egypt since 2009. My initial journey with this resilient and impressive part of our global Wesleyan family began in 2004 as a member of the Canadian Wesleyan Missions Board which convened several times to serve the adoption and integration of the mission fields which merged with the Standard Church joining the Central Canada District.

  • Last week was my 12th visit to Egypt but it was the first time that Ellen joined me! My friends and Kingdom colleagues rolled out the royal red carpet for her and we enjoyed an incredible week together. While my 2.5 weeks in Africa during my sabbatical were amazing, the absolute highlight of my year was getting to share Egypt with my bride – special thanks to GP & Executive Director Dennis Jackson for helping to make this possible! And yes, I took her to see the Giza Pyramids…
I will be leading a Ministry Team in 2026 to serve with many of our churches in Egypt – CLICK HERE if you are interested in knowing more about being part of this opportunity.
  • The normal rhythms of a healthy life and ministry require rest and time to play. (Dan Reiland)
  • [Luther] encouraged those in the world to see their place in life as deeply “called” as those of the monks, and to take their place in the church’s enterprise as fellow ministers. (James Emery White)
  • If you know it and you’re not doing it, then maybe you have a belief issue. (Ryan Ott)
